Our Beliefs

How to Become a Follower of Jesus

Life is too short to not know what your purpose is on this earth, and your eternal destination. You can have a personal connection with God who loves you and has a design for your life, and go to heaven when this life has ended. It is not hard to establish that connection:

A – Admit to God that you are a sinner. Each of us has a problem the Bible calls sin. “For all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory.” (Romans 3:23)

B – Believe in Jesus Christ as God’s son and receive Jesus’ gift of forgiveness. “For God so loved the world in this way: He gave His one and only son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.” (John 3:16)

C – Confess your faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. After you place your trust in Him to forgive you, share your decision with another person. “If you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)

What we believe at Northside Baptist Church

1. The Bible
The entire Bible, both the Old and New Testaments, are inspired by God and are without error in its teachings. The Bible is the only infallible authoritative rule of faith and practice.

2. God
There is one God, in three persons: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit—known together as the Trinity. Each part of the Trinity is eternal and equal in power and worth. God is the creator and sustainer of all things.

3. Jesus
Jesus, the Son, is God. He was miraculously conceived by the Holy Spirit, born to a virgin. Jesus led a faultless, perfect life and died on a cross as a substitute for our guilt; Jesus overcame death, and rose from the dead. He ascended to the right hand of the Father and will literally, personally and visibly return with glory and power.

4. The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit actively confronts us with our guilt before God, leading us to reject evil and turn to God for forgiveness and grace. The Holy Spirit becomes part of every believer, enabling each person to know God personally, and live a godly life. The Holy Spirit also grants each believer a spiritual gift that prepares the believer for effective service within the church family.

5. Mankind
God created mankind in his own image and that man is not a result of evolution. Mankind was originally created with the ability to live perfectly for God's glory. However, the first man, Adam, rejected God's rule and disobeyed. All men have since been born into disobedience and are incapable, on their own, of living for the glory of God.

6. Forgiveness
That recognizing man's inability to do right, God offered freely his undeserved forgiveness. Forgiveness is based solely on the death of Jesus in our place. Forgiveness is received by faith in Jesus.

7. Eternal Life
That all who place their faith in Jesus will live eternally in God's presence and glory, which is heaven. Those who reject the work of Jesus will live eternally in separation from God, which is hell.

8. The Church
God has created the church as the family of God, which is made up of people who have placed their faith in Jesus and have been baptized into his church. The church joins together regularly for worshipping God, rejoicing together and serving others.

9. Evangelism
That it is the responsibility of every Christian to tell others the good news about Jesus and to help others grow in a relationship with God.

10. Marriage

Northside Baptist Church believes in the biblical view of marriage, and therefore, the sanctity thereof. We hold that marriage is of Biblical design, and established by God for procreation of mankind, and His glory.

We also provide the following in reguard to the "Same-Sex marriage" issue.

As a Southern Baptist Church, in association with the Big Lake Baptist Association and the Southern Baptist Convention, we declare our adherence to the Biblical principles and the “Same-Sex Marriage resolution established at the New Orleans Southern Baptist National Convention in 2012.
